Guadalajara Concert A Success

September 14, 2014

On August 19th, 2014, Hector Armienta's song cycle opera, Cuentos de Peregrinacion/Tales of Pilgrimage was presented at Guadalajara's majestic theater, Teatro Degollado.  The performance was televised and broadcast live on Channel 7. The nineteenth century theater     ( opera house) was filled to near capacity and the attendees waited close to two hours to see the performance. The concert was presented under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture's Martes de Música y Ópera. Conductor Allen Vladamir Gomez masterfully led the music ensemble and singers ( Mezzo Soprano Guadalupe Peraza, Soprano Alexandra Sessler, and Tenor Esdras López).

The presentation is part of a three year initiative ( Arte Sin Fronteras), developed by Opera Cultura in partnership with the city of San Jose and the Mexican Consulate of San Jose. The concert was also the cultural component of a new sister city relationship between the city of San Jose and the city of Guadalajara. We'd also like to thank the Ministry of Culture of Guadalajara, the Office of Cultural Affairs of San Jose, the city of San Jose and our airline sponsor - Aero Mexico.
