Coyotes and Rabbits to tour San Jose elementary schools
September 26, 2016"Reading is a Magical Thing!"
Composed by Héctor Armienta, the bilingual children's opera is inspired by one of the oldest Mexican folk tales known, The Coyote and the Rabbit. It tells the story of a young coyote named Scrawny who, with the help of two mischievous rabbits and a stubborn coyote cousin, learns the importance of literacy and knowledge.
While the opera has toured in Texas and Oklahoma, this will mark the first time children in the South Bay will be able to see it. There will be two family matinee performances on March 4th, 2017 at the School of Arts and Culture. In addition, there will be performances in elementary schools in San Jose and and other parts of Santa Clara county. We wish to thank the California Arts Council, the City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs, and in particular Applied Materials Foundation, who is the primary sponsor of four free performances at Title One schools, as well as our free ticket program.
