Art Class Flyer

Opera Cultura is offering a free art class for youth at The Hub, a Community Resource Center for foster youth in San Jose, as part of the premiere of Bless Me, Ultima.

Professional artist Elba Raquel Martinez will lead this class, which will focus on mixed mediums including acrylic, graphite, color pencil, and watercolor. Students will be given the opportunity to display their work at the San Jose premiere of Bless Me, Ultima in April. This event is NOT open to the public.

Elba Raquel was born and raised in San Jose. She graduated in 2005 from Evergreen Valley College with an AS in Design. Immediately following the degree she moved to "The City" to study at the San Francisco Academy of Art University where she graduated in 2008 with a BFA in Illustration. Most recently, in 2017 she obtained a Master's in Art Education at Santa Clara University. Currently, she is an active freelance illustrator and runs the Art Department at Latino College Preparatory Academy while teaching a three-tier Visual Art Program at this San Jose high school. As a 2-D and 3-D artist, Elba Raquel blends both realms in a playful manner. Her Mexican cultural influence reflects in her pieces through rhythm and color into what can be described as "fantastic realism."
